Gilda Raimondi earned a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology from the University of Manitoba. After graduation, she discovered the field of art therapy while attending an art exhibition. Gilda decided to pursue her interest in art therapy and moved to Toronto where she graduated from the Toronto Art Therapy Institute. In 2009, Gilda received a diploma in Advanced Counselling Skills from George Brown College.

In 1980 she received her Bachelor of Arts at York University where she majored in creative art studies and developed her professional expertise in encaustics and multi-media and continues to practice today. Her true passion for helping others through the arts was supported when she graduated from the Toronto Art Therapy Institute program in 2013. Heather’s experience includes mental health, developmental disabilities, long-term care, supporting patients with Alzheimer’s, dementias and complex disabilities. She also facilitates therapeutic self-care programs combatting burnout and compassion fatigue. Heather has worked with the Canadian Art Therapy Conference Committee for several conferences, offered encaustic workshops for OATA and currently serves on the CATA Advocacy Committee. She is currently working at a residential rehabilitation centre running group art therapy, as well as practicing in a private practice setting. She has a wide range of experience: working in addictions in a residential setting, with homeless populations in an open art studio, in a hospice setting working through anticipatory grief and bereavement, those who are caregivers, the newly diagnosed, as well as in a hospital working in the long term care unit as well as with palliative care patients. Many clients have had concurrent mental health diagnosis such as anxiety and depression. She has an interest in engaging with the best practices and evolving approaches within this diverse profession, and has gained a specialized certificate in motivational interviewing.
