Onsite Art Therapy occurs when in-person Art Therapy Services have been contracted to local organizations. We are proud to have provided in-person Art Therapy services within diverse long term care homes and other community based day treatment programs over the past twenty years, including throughout the COVID-19 pandemic.

- Stepping Out for a Better Tomorrow - Young adults with developmental disabilities
- North Thornhill Community Centre; Garnet A. Williams Community Centre - Children with diverse disabilities
- Maple Community Centre - Mental health support for community dwelling adults
- Chapter 21 - Young adults with developmental disabilities
- Amica at Unionville - Seniors with mild, moderate and advanced dementia
- The Wynfield Long Term Care Residence, Oshawa - Seniors with mild, moderate and advanced dementia
- Cedarhurst Home: Assisted Living - Seniors with mild, moderate and advanced dementia
Our Art Therapists work in partnership with residents to develop meaningful therapeutic goals to support their mental health. We integrate a strengths-based model to help residents focus on what brings personal meaning in their unique journey of aging. Art therapy sessions are then tailored to meet these goals in consideration of their current strengths and emotional needs.

- Enhanced self-esteem and self-confidence
- Creative opportunities for mastery and control
- Dignity through positive reminiscence
Art Therapy sessions may provide opportunities for residents to address:
- Challenges adjusting to life changes including loss of independence
- Feelings of isolation
- Identity and sense of self
Art therapy sessions may complement:
- Pain management strategies
- Connection with visiting family members
Individual sessions are approximately 45-60 minutes long and groups (2-8 clients) are 30-90 minutes in duration.
Length of therapy can be short-term, (1-6 sessions) to find solutions to immediate problems or it can also be used longer term (12 or more sessions) to address ongoing issues that may need some resolution. The Art Therapist works closely with clients to provide tailored verbal and/or therapeutic arts experiences for supported emotional expression.
